Project 1: An interactive electronic planning for holidays
An application that acts as a diary (electronic planning), allowing
parents to plan their days according to the things to be done in a
certain place (for holidays). Children who are old enough to own a phone
(i.e. children between 12 and 18 years old.) can also recommend places
to their parents to do things they enjoy. The activities and places to
be seen will be listed according to the location and will indicate
whether or not they are suitable for children or whether or not there is
an integrated day-care centre for the duration of a visit, for example.
Context
when? where? who? why?
It's an application to plan family activities, the time when things are
going to be done (not only activities but also when and where they will
eat, for example)
Every member of the family will be able to use the application. So there
will be two different choices. One for the parties and one for their
children (if they are old enough to use the application, i.e. children
between 12 and 18 years old.). The parents will be able to plan their
holidays according to the place for the activities (time, date, price,
number of people...). The children will be able to recommend to their
parents activities to be done on site. All the activities and places
will be listed.
Children generally don't have a say in what activities they go on
vacation. This application will then allow them to recommend places to
their parents based on the things they like to do and would like to
discover. Parents will then be able to take their children's wishes into
consideration and venture into new things!
Target
for whom?
The first are the parents who have children since they are the main
users of the application, they are the ones who plan the days and decide
whether or not something can be done, whether or not they are going to
do this activity according to their budget or the age of their children,
whether it is suitable or not.
The second target are children who are old enough to own a phone and
understand the application, i.e. children between 12 and 18 years old.
There will be possible interaction between the parents and the child.
The child will be able to recommend places to their parents.
Service offered
what? how?
Our application would be an application to create a day planner for families on vacation. The activities and places to discover are listed according to each place. Parents will be able to integrate them directly into their planning. The days can be organized one by one or by week. The children will be able to see the schedule without being able to modify it, they will be able to select the things they want to do and propose them to their parents.

Description of the mobile app.
Yuggler is an app for parents, grandparents & caregivers to find kids activities, things to do for families and fun places near your current location or travel destinations.
It is linked to our project because you can find activities to do for families but you can't plan the days and take into consideration what the children might say. -

it is an app which permits to plan activities while being fun and interactive because it is customizable. It is linked to our project because it allows to create a planning for holidays but also because since it is very interactive it can be used by families. However what differentiates it, is the fact that it is not specially made for the use of all the family and for children. -

It is an application made to create organization in the families with a shared planning , to do list… However contrary to our project it is much more made for the daily life than for holidays.

This chapter is related to our topic because it highlights how hard planning holidays can be. It underlines that for some families, going on holidays happens hardly once a year and for that reason everyone want it to be perfect and to please to everyone in the family. It also shows us that at some point planning holidays can cause stress because there is a fear of failing this unique moment of the year. -

This video tells us about how we always plan to do things that we end up not doing and what we are acting that way. It is related to our project since our goal is to make families being able to plan things and to actually do it during their holidays.
Project 2: Finding best locations for families around where they are
This mobile application would use the exact geolocation of the person
using the application and help the family to see where to go within a
few kilometres, know what activities are available around them. The
application needs to know the the number of people in the family, the
age of each, and the the location of the group and, then, make a list of
activities/things to see near their location at that time.
Context

As an app, it would be usable anytime, anywhere. According to the localization of the group, how many they ere and their age, the app would make up a list of places to see, shows in their local area and other museum to visit in a close range of km. the only thing necessary would be that every member of the family has to create an account, and then create a common group with every other member. This application is designed for families who don't know what to do as a family activity and don't know what there is to do around them at a particular time.
Target
for whom?
The main target would be families visiting an unknown region to them, or simply with no idea of what to visit in their local area, where they are actually. Those who want to discover activities to do together as a family right next door! A vast market that could be reach efficiently with a well-designed app !

So after creating a group with every member of the family, someone would
have to tell the AI what they are expecting:
- Their precise localization (give access to the GPS localization)
- The type of activities they would like to do (theater, museum, famous
local places, …)
- Average age of all participants

- Yuggler, it share a common ground with our idea of caring family's need but more focusing on children's need. It shows a good way to present the information on a interactive map on a App.
- Familiscope, users could set more criteria for searching on this website, e,g, they could choose regions, ways of entertainment, the reason of celebration, the age of the children. Though it does not yet provide an mobile app.
- Famil Trips, a fine advisor for families wanting to do outdoor sports in Switzerland. The regions could be expanded and the activity intergrated in our services.
